Day 8 (9/17-9/18)

AP

  • Finish group mini-essays
  • Start working on the outline. The information is in the Google Classroom. 4A Scholars, I have revised the original Google Assignment and it now provides you with an editable template for the outline. This is a better tool than the sample that was originally provided.
  • Google Classrooms have been split up. There is now a 4A class and a 4B class.
  • All AP forms need to be turned into Student Services by Friday.
  • Everyone needs to be in the online College Board AP course. There will be assignments given in this online course and regardless of whether or not you are taking the test in the Spring, you will need to be in this online class.
  • A-Day scholars: your outlines need to be complete by the end of class on 9/19
  • B-Day scholars: your outlines need to be complete by the end of class on 9/20
  • Photo Release Forms: please bring those back in. I would like to post more than just pictures of either an empty classroom, the backs and sides of people's heads, or selfies, although I do like a good selfie. Please get those signed in brought back into class so that I can have your lovely mugs on my teacher Instagram page!
*AP Study Hall Group Read: tomorrow, 9/19, I will be reading the Welty article and would be willing to read and annotate with a group after school from 4:00-4:30 in room 112 (Mr. A's room-I have study hall duty). This would be a great opportunity for you to get the reading out of the way. It is coming up for homework in the next day or so. This is not required. It is completely optional.

**Summer Reading Resubmission deadline extended for ALL to Friday, September 20 by 9AM.
ENG I

Today, we spent half of the class brainstorming for the poem that we are going to have to right. The poem is expected to be similar to the one that scholars were tasked to analyze in class (attached below). They then used a brainstorming guide to help come up with their own pieces for a poem of their own.

The remaining part of class was used to get everyone logged into a new program that we will be using throughout the remainder of the school year: StudySync. The first time was a little rough getting to the properly location but eventually, the class ended up in the right spot. Time was very limited, so when we return for our next class, we will be able to spend more time navigating through it.

B-Day scholars did not do a journal today as we had even less time to work due to the early release.

(1) JOURNAL: 917: What is the worst or best piece of advice you have ever received?

(2) Final Poem is due on 9/23 (A-Day); 9/24 (B-Day) IN CLASS.
Example Symbol Poem (written by Mrs. Blackwell)
